Today is Wednesday, which means you get the weekly dumb quote from my dumbass Speech instructor.

She was discussing her feelings regarding 9/11 a year ago and how her feelings probably weren't politically correct... "...the rest of the world can suck it! We're gonna go beat some ass! ... I was ready to find a Muslim and beat the hell out of them." Of course she went on to talk about how that wasn't right and all... but you don't say that shit in front of a CLASS.

Plus she watches Letterman, not Leno. She talked about how she hurried up to get home the first night Letterman was on again after this to see what he would say. She described how he was angry and pounded the desk and said "goddammit!". "He incited me to violence! The president diffused my anger, but Letterman incited me! Letterman should be president, not Bush!" What an idiot.

Tonight we ride to OC. shekill, I expect to see you there. Today is Bruce's birthday so I have to figure out something to do for him.

I'm all out of crop circles, at least good ones. I'll keep checking for new ones.

9/11

Ok, so there's basically two camps. On one side you have the looking back/taking pause/remembering/giving tribute types, and on the other you have the "I'm so sick of the media hyping this up and getting their rocks off" types. I'm definitely in the first camp. My thought is that the media is probably catering to what a good chunk of the population wants at this time. I don't have any animosity or anything towards the people who feel the other way because to be honest, I'm a little bit torn. I can see that side too.

I'm going to quote part of a post by nolimitsoldier today:
...as the Major said about an hour ago, "We all remember what happened. We were all there. We don't need CNN to remind us that people died. But people die every day from car accidents and drug overdoses and no one is throwing them a fucking party! Americans offend the military every day they fly a flag we have respected day in and day out our whole lives, a flag that they just woke up to. Fuck them! Fuck them when they're running home, crying to mommy!"

So I say, good for you if you want to remember it and good for you if you are still angry. But I'm Army, which means your anger at a black eye you deserved and still deserve results in my death. So pick up a gun and stand to fight, or shut the fuck up you goddamn flag waving, God fearing pansies.

Fuck that. Just because I'm not in the military doesn't strip me of the right to be proud that I'm an American. We can't all be military. Someone has to stay home and create and maintain a country worth defending.

Regarding the people who die from other causes, well, someone does throw them a party just like today's memorial services. It's called a funeral. These people die as a natural course of human life. It's to be expected. The attack on the WTC falls just slightly out of that category, as the perceptive "major" failed to acknowledge or realize. The death of an individual is one that is a tragedy for those who knew that person. The deaths from 9/11 were and are a tragedy that directly affected all Americans, so a memorial service/day that all Americans can participate in is one hundred percent appropriate.

Regarding the part of the quote that went "a flag that they just woke up to"... fuck that as well. I don't know who this major is but he's a fucktard. Just because we feel a renewed sense of patriotism as a result of this event doesn't mean that we didn't give a shit about being Americans before this. This "major" has an inflated sense of his own patriotism versus the patriotism of any non-military American, and he is (maybe inadvertently) using that to drive a wedge between himself and the very people he claims to be defending. If that wedge is only in his own mind, fine, but when he opens his fat fucking cake hole and spews that shit in public, that wedge is created in my mind as well. I don't need to feel that way about any member of the military. It gives the rest of them a bad rep.
For history I had to share some thoughts on 9/11.
