getting close now

trbobrick made me a solenoid bracket from lexan.  Rock.

I now estimate < 1 hour of labor remaining before I attempt to start the engine.

I'm so afraid that some wiring or something is goofed up and I'm going to have to tear the whole interior up again to get at the ECU.

I should be trying to start the car on Sunday.

To do:
  1. install new heat shield
  2. replace strut brace
  3. replace lower frame brace
  4. rewire radiator fans in series
  5. reconnect the battery - that will help
  6. Turn on the ignition and begin tuning the ECU, including calibrating the WB02 sensor
  7. Start engine, make sure nothing is leaking.  Particularly fuel injectors, water hoses at the firewall, fuel lines where AFPR used to be
  8. seal firewall holes
  9. fine tune the ECU's idle characteristics
  10. Put car in motion and further tune the ECU, calibrating fuel maps
  11. Once car is running well, activate electronic boost control and go ZOOOOOM
Done:
  1. put driver seat back in
  2. wire the boost switch
  3. install the intake
  4. the whole interior is in except for the passenger seat
  5. the ECU is mounted
  6. put radio back in
  7. fab bracket for electronic boost control solenoid
  8. install, wire and plumb solenoid
  9. cut switch mounting plate for boost switch
  10. fill transmission with fluid
  11. tighten transmission drain plug
  12. drain oil
  13. refill with oil
  14. I'll replace the turbo's water and oil return hoses some other time, it's in good shape
  15. make sure all sensor wires and the vacuum tube are run from the ECU
  16. figure out how the hell to wire the boost switch
  17. install and wire wideband O2 sensor
  18. run wires to the knock sensor
  19. screw the lower shift boot, it's in good enough shape for now and easy to replace later
  20. buy the damn oil filter already
  21. buy new hose clamp for air filter after h4xx0ring the one that came with it (note to self - don't torque it so hard)
  22. buy elephant dick
  23. remove radio for wiring access
  24. remove driver seat for wiring access
  25. buy cockpit switch for low/high boost
  26. install and wire the air temp sensor (use loctite)
  27. run wire from ECU to signal wire so I don't have to have the AFM
  28. reinstall all the turbo plumbing
  29. install clutch switch override
  30. have bung welded to intercooler pipe
  31. new hose connector for intake has arrived
  32. aluminum sensor bung has arrived
  33. install valve cover gasket & valve cover
  34. install coil pack and plug wires
  35. put the exhaust back on
  36. find the exhaust gasket I know is around somewhere
  37. put driveshaft back on
  38. re-install rear power plant frame bolts
  39. get wideband O2 sensor bung welded to downpipe
  40. install knock sensor
  41. remove MSD ignition box
  42. remove auxiliary fuel pressure regulator
  43. remove old heat shield
  44. remove old intake
  45. re-install transmission
  46. replace clutch and flywheel
  47. drain and remove transmission
  48. remove shifter
  49. replace ECU
  50. pull up passenger floor panel
  51. remove passenger seat and disassemble interior
  52. remove bad coil pack
  53. remove valve cover and gasket
  54. remove plug wires
  55. remove strut brace

Engine turns over but will not fire.  I don't think I'm getting any spark.  Timing light is not strobing when I try to start the car.

:-(

My first thought is the coil pack since replacing that is one of the things I did.

  1. replace lower frame brace
