I watched C-SPAN 2 for about an hour this afternoon. They were covering Tony Blair talking to the British House of Commons about the impending war. It was fascinating to watch how things work there. I decided I like Tony Blair, and I like Iain Duncan Smith, head of the Conservative party, as well.
MSNBC is running a Deadline Counter which shows the time left on Hussein's 48-hour deadline. That's hilarious. You think maybe they're looking forward to war? Think war might be good for news coverage ratings? Just a little bit.
I don't know whether this is a good idea or not, but I'm glad it's being done. Does that make sense? I mean, Dubya is finishing the job his father left unfinished. The psychological influence of a father onto a son cannot be underestimated, and 9/11 might have just been the catalyst that Dubya needed to leverage into an attack on Iraq. Is our excuse valid? That's shaky. Are these particular circumstances right for going to war against Iraq? Maybe not. But is it a good idea to remove the existing regime? I think so.
