Watched a decent chunk of the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta Saturday. That was nice.
Watched the Rally Corsica Sunday. That was also nice.
Before the rally, Miah and I went biking. That was fun.
Football from here on
Last night the Chiefs beat the Raiders at Oakland to go 7-0. This is fascinating to me. Their next four games look like this:
That's two lame teams, one mediocre team they haven't played, and one mediocre team they've already beaten while on the road. Three of these next four games are at home.
Now I'm not an idiot; I realize there's no way the Chiefs are going unbeaten this season. The streak has got to end soon - they've never even gone FOUR and oh before. On the other hand, there's really no reason why they shouldn't win the next four games. Chiefs 11-0? Is that even possible? If you look at statistics alone it certainly looks like a possibility, but there's more to a game than stats. You have to keep in mind that it is still the Chiefs - they have the potential to fold at any moment, as evidenced by them almost snatching defeat from the jaws of victory at the last moment of last night's game.
I do think San Diego will beat them in San Diego. I do think Denver has a very good shot at beating them in Denver, and I would put money on Minnesota beating them at Minnesota (NO ONE IN THE WORLD CAN COVER RANDY MOSS). The only two games I haven't mentioned then are Detroit (playing in KC) and Chicago (playing in KC). The Chiefs really ought to win both of those games.
So - Can the Chiefs go 13-3 during the regular season? Again, statistically I say yes, but realistically I predict 11-5. Probably still good enough to get into the playoffs, at which point they will immediately cave. Just my prediction. After all, they are the Chiefs.
Disclaimer: I'm thrilled that the Chiefs are doing well, I'm just trying not to get my hopes up too much.
