My car is a convertible. You know this. What you may not know is that I have a separate fiberglass top that covers up the soft top when it's down. This piece is called a tonneau. It's optional, and it requires a bit of thought to use, because it can't be transported inside the car when the top is up. So if I leave the house with this thing on, it needs to not rain or anything the whole time I'm out.
Well, after lunch today, I decided to put it on. There were some fluffy clouds hanging around, but enough blue in the sky (60%-70%) that I figured I was safe. So I go to Sonic to get some lunch, and Tandra calls me. I decide to get her some food too, and I run it by her mom's place where she is at the moment. No sooner do I pull into the drive to separate out our food when suddenly it starts RAINING. I look up at the sky and there is still like 40% blue, but there happens to be this dark gray cloud above me which is apparently dropping huge drops of water. So I bolt out of the car, spilling my tater tots all over the place. I blast open the trunk, grab my screwdriver, unscrew the screws that hold the tonneau on, toss everything aside, by this time it is really pouring rain, I unhook the black leather boot that covers the soft top, throw it aside, heave the soft top up, zip up the back window, and roll up the side windows.
Just in time for it to stop raining.
The inside of my car is soaked, my cell phone has been rained on (I think it's okay), I'm soaking wet (still), and within five minutes the sun is back out.
I left the tonneau at Tandra's mom's place for the moment, and just to spite Life, the Universe, and Everything, I fished out every single one of my tater tots and ate them anyway.
