Car Stuff
Tonight I finish work on my car, FINALLY. I put together the center console and most of the driver's door last night. It all looks SWEET but the silver parts are getting dinged up already. I should have put some clear coat on them. I'll probably have to take them back apart and do that.

I put my gauges back in. Unfortunately the lights that light the gauge numbers are the same ones that light the needles. I painted the needles orange (they look AWESOME), and I don't want to make the orange look weird by lighting it with some other color. I got blue bulbs to put in thinking they might produce a really nice deep blue, but all they did was make everything not look yellowey, like the Reveal light bulbs. The gauge numbers look white, but the front cover isn't back on yet, so everything behind them looks a little yellow with the white bulbs in. I left them in anyway because the numbers look good. Now I just have to get my needles properly recalibrated. I'm 100% sure that the Fuel, Oil Pressure, and Temperature gauges are correct. I think my tach is pretty close, but it doesn't seem perfect. My speedometer is also close, but I need to pace someone while talking to them on the phone to make sure. After that I'll finish putting the dash back together.

Yeah, overall I'm pretty pleased. The bulbs I put into the gauges are brighter than the ones that were in there before, and of course I left the little green condoms off. I also acetoned everything off the backs of the gauge faces, so they are super bright and nice and white. :-)

Other Stuff
Bought a cordless phone with an answering machine last night. And another little ten dollar phone for the bedroom. It's weird having a regular phone again, it's been about three years since I've had one. I didn't even know where the phone jacks in our house were, I had to hunt for them.

This morning I've got people coming to the house:
  • The people to replace Tandra's windshield, which was broken in February.
  • The people to figure out why the hell my heater's pilot light won't stay lit, who will be charging me an unreasonable amount of money.
  • The pest control people, who thus far have been largely ineffective.
Leaving three checks on the dining room table, one blank, is not that much fun.
