You know I love technology. Love it. Fascinated. Dig it. Well, yesterday we got Dish Network installed. Yes, it's a little bit cool that I have a satellite dish on my roof, but that's not the good part. The good part is that all the channels we get are digital now. Including the local channels, i.e. the big networks. Last night I was watching football on digital. It looked damn good. I was impressed.
But that's not even the best part. The best part is that as part of the install, we got a DVR box. I'd been wanting one for a while but just could never justify upping my cable bill - now I scrapped those guys so that's not an issue. The DVR is a free upgrade with the install that I got. Just like they say, it can pause live TV, rewind up to 2 hours (unless you specifically tell it to record, then it's got 100 hours of space on the hard drive), freeze frame and frame advance, and all that cool stuff, in digital quality.
Right, cool, but not funny, right? Here's the funny part. I've been slightly upset ever since I discovered that The-N plays My So Called Life every night at 3 AM. (You see where this is going now, huh.) Who is awake at 3 AM? Not me. But with the DVR, I can tell it to record the show every night and watch it whenever I decide to. So today at lunch I went home to check it out, and sure enough, last night's episode is there, in digital quality, for me to watch. I'm excited to the point of being giddy about this. About watching ten-year-old reruns of a show where every other word is "like." It's ridiculous. It's embarrassing. But it's funny, so I share it with you.
So yeah, that's what's funny.
