Ok, it's not really like that. A local Miata club guy is selling his and I might buy it. It's a '90, just like mine, but where mine has 200k miles, his has 28k. His is red. No spoiler and no style bar, but that leaves room for a roll bar.
Here's the thing - his has a turbo with an intercooler, and a full turbo exhaust with high-flow cat.
If I bought his car, I'd swap the suspension, brake hardware and differential, so my new red turbo Miata would have the Ground Control coilovers, bigger brakes and a Limited-Slip Diff. In addition, his has power steering which means a tighter turning ratio. The rack can be de-powered, which means removing the heavy power steering gear, but retaining the nice tight steering ratio. I've driven a Miata that's had this done - it's amazing and turning isn't difficult.
I could complete for overall fastest time of the day at SCCA in this car, and I'd have that power that my current car is lacking. Plus the whole of the turbo kit is upgradeable.
I'd put his normal open diff and factory suspension on my white car, put my old factory wheels back on it, re-install the popup headlights, and put about $100 into plugs, wires, and a cam cover gasket to get it running smoothly again and then sell it.
My car payment would go up by around $30 a month and I'm guessing insurance would remain the same. If my banker will give me the loan, I think I'm going to do this.
